The sense of sight is as dominant as a king. Especially when we are somewhere new, it demands that we rely on it for bearings, for information, even for beauty. It bullies its brother and sister senses with (I hate to say it) something like disdain.

“What did you see?” say friends as soon as we come home from a trip. We are eager to explain. This is why the world is full of articles and blogs that report on travel’s sights, with maybe a sidebar, here and there, on the flavors of food. Nothing wrong with that. But could there be something missing?
