The very international Goderich Celtic Roots Festival

Though it is virtual again this year due to the pandemic, Goderich Celtic Roots Festival manages to take us to foreign lands, all through Celtic Music.

Though of course, it has always been international, this year’s new feature of Robinson Emerging Artists Showcase has gone even further.  Right now, I am listening to and watching the band, Mosquera Celtic Band from Spain – Galicia to be exact.  This takes me back to the days of volunteering for Diverbo and Vaughantown, both of which offer the “queimada” ceremony. This drink is also known as the Galician Fire Drink.  If I recall correctly, it has Celtic roots, in Galicia.

Coming up next is a group from (drumroll please) – Japan!  I was lucky enough to have a preview, and they are seriously good.  Did you expect a Celtic group from Japan?  Ha! They are all over the world.

So next time you see an Irish Pub in a tropical country, think of the tradition of music in pubs in Ireland – a spontaneous evening’s entertainment, which includes everyone who enters, and a great place to come up serious musical talent, and a lot of fun.

To watch the festival, go to Youtube and search Goderich Celtic Roots Festival.

If you go right now, you can see the group from Japan!

And yes, if you would like to support the artists, there is a tip jar. All of the money goes to the artists.
