The Case of the Missing Restaurant in Zagreb

The bartender at our hotel recommended the restaurant named Primosten, “casual, not fancy but really good, authentic food.”  And it was easy to find, too – “first left, walk four or five blocks until you reach Tesla street, turn left and it is just there, on the right.”  Alright, he said, a little difficult to see because it was in a passageway, but just right there – we couldn’t miss it.  He wrote the name on the map, marking its location with an X.

I should have known better.  Anytime anyone says, “you can’t miss it,” I should know that it is unfindable.

But in this case, it was unfindable for a good reason.

When we returned to the bar the next night to admit that we had not been able to find the restaurant, our bartender was quite surprised.  “What do you mean?  Primosten, yes, it is on the right, about 10 meters, in a passage or something like that, I don’t know in English.  Let me get you the exact address.”

He brought us a piece of paper with the exact address, and the name of the restaurant.  And he innocently repeated to us what he had written – Restoran Vinodol, Teslina 10.

Not Primosten – Vinodol.

And armed with the correct name, we found it and had a wonderful meal!

Well worth waiting for!

Restoran Vinodol, Teslina 10, Zagreb, Croatia

What did you have for dinner at the restaurant when you finally found it?
I’ve been watching Japanese TV and they have wonderful short programs on travel, food, various locations throughout Japan…do you hae a movie camera? Would be good to see your walk-abouts.

Thank you! We shared zucchini fritters with prawns, feta cheese and salad as an appetizer, and grilled pork tenderloin as the main course. It was excellent. And we could watch the various meats being grilled as were seated near the grill. I still want to eat the steaks that were grilled! Good idea about the walk-about – maybe I will try to do one today in Zadar!
