Kindness in Kerala – Please help those in need
Every day, I think of my time in India as a volunteer with an NGO called BRaIN in Kerala. Their holistic values
and approach are reflected in everything they do and how they do it. It was quite uplifting to be living that ideal and see it in action in all their projects. Because of this and their endless kindness and generosity, they became family to me, and I continue to support their initiatives. Travel Better Live Better in action!
The Situation in Kerala
Now I have the opportunity to return some of that kindness and help them. During the current Covid situation, it is very difficult to see how much the people of Kerala are suffering. People are not only sick and dying as we see on the news, but hungry and going without food.
And I take it personally because some are people who I know and love, and I just hope that they are doing okay. Others are the people who were my neighbours, including the man in the photo with his goats, who didn’t have much but took loving care of his goats and always had a smile for me when I passed by. Okay, I loved him, too!
The BRaIN NGO is doing its best to support people, continuing to provide education through virtual classes and keeping the teachers employed, to delivering food to those in need.
BRaIN in action
To do more and meet the needs of the people in Kerala, they have organized crowdfunding to specifically support these 5 areas:
- Free Oxygen
- Free Plasma
- Free Educational Support
- Free groceries and basic needs
- Free palliative support
Please visit their website breadandintuition.in for more details about each of these initiatives.
I know that people everywhere are hurting and have suffered economic hardship. And I understand that you may prefer to help those more local. If so, you can still help by sharing this request.
Any amount that you give to support them makes a huge difference.
You can also email them directly at info@breadandintuition.in if you want to use paypal.
Any help is greatly appreciated. BRaIN and I thank you for your help.
