Happy Tet!!! Let the New Year begin!
Two years ago, I experienced my first and only Tet at Nam Chau Boutique Resort, Miu Ne, Vietnam and I am very nostalgic today.
The people were so very kind and included me in the celebrations and treated me feel like family. I was even given a red envelope with cash in it, just like everyone else!
Tet is the most important celebration and holiday in Vietnam, a time of eating, a family time of being together and honouring ancestors, of saying goodbye to the new year and launching the new.
It is colourful, happy, boisterous and inclusive. There is also a sense of great respect that all-pervasive, respect for their culture, history and each other.
As it is a time when Vietnamese families take a vacation, the resort was full, with many families driving from Ho Chi Minh. Families grouped together on the beach, some going in the water fully clothed, others played volleyball and built sandcastles. The atmosphere was relaxed and happy.
Of course, the weather was perfect and the water warm, so the conditions were also perfect for me!
Below are just a few photos of Tet.
