How to Get Money Back – Even from a Non-refundable Airline Ticket
If you miss a flight for any reason, you are entitled to receive the taxes and fees associated with the unused portion of the ticket, regardless of the refund rules for the ticket you purchased. These were collected by the airline on behalf of the airport and government.
If you don’t fly, the costs are not incurred and the airline does not have to pay those taxes and fees, keeping the money unless you specifically request a refund.
The return of this amount must be requested in writing directly from the airline, with a copy of the receipt and complete information about the ticket – date, flight number, departure and arrival cities amount paid for the ticket and the amount that should be returned to you.
